GAITHERSBURG, Md., June 27, 2018 - Sodexo, a food services and facilities management company committed to improving Quality of Life, has been recognized for its work serving the United States Marine Corps through the annual W.P.T. Hill Memorial Awards for Foodservice Excellence. Mess Hall 227 at Marine Corps Camp Lejeune in North Carolina was selected as the winner of the Best Full Food Service Mess Hall category in the 2018 awards. This is the second consecutive year Mess Hall 227 has been recognized with this prestigious honor.
The W.P.T. Hill Memorial Award, established in 1971, is an annual Marine Corps-wide competition with trophies and certificates of achievement awarded to USMC installations around the globe exhibiting foodservice excellence. Competitors are judged on areas such as operations, sanitation, taste and quality of food.
“My position affords me the opportunity to see first-hand the passion with which our employees serve Marines and I am constantly amazed by their unwavering commitment,” said Brett Ladd, senior vice president, Sodexo Government, North America. “I am tremendously proud of the Mess Hall 227 team for earning the W.P.T. Hill Memorial Award again this year, but I also want to recognize the Sodexo teams at the other 46 USMC mess halls we serve nationwide for their continued dedication to improving Quality of Life for our brave servicemen and women.”
Sodexo received the W.P.T. Hill Memorial Award at the Military Foodservice Awards Dinner on Friday, May 18, 2018 in Chicago, Ill., an event sponsored and organized by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
“It's an honor for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to partner with the United States Marine Corps to recognize Sodexo’s team at Camp Lejeune’s Mess Hall 227 for its award-winning support of Marines,” said Rob Gifford, executive vice president, National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. “Sodexo’s military support is not limited to the mess halls it serves. The company also works closely with NRAEF in support of culinary training specifically for active duty military members and for that and for all that they do, we thank them.”
