Sodexo Named to Hispanic Business Magazine’s List of Top 60 Diversity Elite Companies

GAITHERSBURG, Md., September 22, 2009 – Sodexo, a world leader in integrated food and facilities management solutions, has been selected as a “Top 60 Diversity Elite” company by Hispanic Business® magazine. The list appears in the magazine’s September issue.

Ricardo Diaz, director of business development for Sodexo’s Education Division and chair of the Sodexo Organization of Latinos (SOL) employee network group, was pleased but not surprised to learn that Sodexo had achieved this distinction. “This recognition reflects Sodexo’s firm commitment from senior leadership and the entire organization to foster an environment where minorities and Latinos in particular, can develop their careers to their fullest potential,” observed Diaz. “I can personally attest to the many opportunities I have found within Sodexo for my personal and professional development, which helps me be successful in my career. And as a leader in SOL, I have been able to contribute and create more opportunities for Latinos at Sodexo.”

Currently, Sodexo’s workforce is 17.8 percent Hispanic and the organization has worked hard to actively grow external relationships with Latino organizations and improve recruitment of Latino job candidates. The company has strong partnerships with the National Council of La Raza, the Hispanic College Fund and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

Sodexo’s presence on the list was the product of a carefully developed analytical process. “All companies in the Hispanic Business Diversity Elite 60 are leaders in diversity. Our research team reaches out to Fortune 1000 companies, American subsidiaries of Global 500 companies and large U.S. public and private companies with our annual survey. Once the surveys are received, we start a proprietary ranking methodology involving more than 30 variables, measuring a company’s commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity, The final directory lists the top 60 companies, based on a weighted processing of company data conducted by HispanTelligence®, the research arm of Hispanic Business Inc,” said Juan Solana, chief economist, Hispanic Business Media.
