Sodexo Named Recruiting Department of the Year by ERE

GAITHERSBURG, Md., March 26, 2010 – Sodexo was named Recruiting Department of the Year by ERE, the online professional network exclusively for recruiters and HR professionals. Sodexo was recognized at ERE's Recruiting Excellence Awards ceremony in mid-March.

Sodexo is a leader in providing comprehensive service solutions worldwide, and is one of the world's leading employers, with core businesses in foodservice, facilities management and senior services.

Sodexo was recognized for its innovative approaches, including: the creative use of social media for recruiting; investing in its Talent Acquisition team to ensure they are at the top of their profession; and leveraging technology to maximize sourcing capabilities, build talent pipelines and manage relationships with potential employees. The company's Sodexo USA Careers website is the hub of its online network.

"Sodexo's success at recruiting the industry's best talent is a competitive advantage for our company and our clients," said Arie Ball, vice president of Sodexo's Talent Acquisition Group. "The skills employed by our recruitment team reflect a company culture that recognizes results, invests in continual professional development, is collaborative in nature and shares best practices. It has helped our recruiters become the top professionals in their field, and allows us to fill over 4,000 management and executive positions annually, from a talent pool that is specialized and in high demand."

Ball said that by developing and adopting innovative approaches to find and attract top talent to the company, such as using social media tools to maintain contact with candidates, Sodexo has reduced its recruitment advertising costs by $300,000 annually. The result is that Sodexo's cost-per-hire is less than half of the average figure reported by the Corporate Executive Board.

In addition, the company recently launched an aggressive internal sourcing program to increase internal promotions, and revamped its Employee Referral Program, resulting in a 50 percent increase in employee referral hires. An Alumni Reconnexions Program resulted in 123 re-hires of former employees, and a military-focused recruitment initiative increased military management hires by 28%.
