GAITHERSBURG, Md., May 9, 2017 - In the tenth and final installment of the 2016-2017 President to President series, published today, Dr. Ángel Cabrera, Ph.D., president of George Mason University, describes the challenges associated with the transfer process and programs that can help students overcome them.
While addressing the competitiveness of today’s job market, Cabrera explains the lack of transfer students who receive degrees at four-year universities and the need to assist this population through programs designed to cultivate success. These include the University’s partnership with Northern Virginia Community College to ensure a smooth transfer process for those seeking a degree at George Mason University.
Encouraging a change in the educational system, Cabrera calls on university leaders to modify the transfer process and cultivate campus communities to make transfer students feel comfortable, confident, and successful.
