Sodexo and the Fight to STOP Hunger

As a leading food and facilities management firm, we are committed to helping to combat the problem of hunger with a wide range of programs to help provide hunger relief to those in need.

Every day, Sodexo serves hundreds of thousands of nutritious meals. Yet, an estimated 35 million people are at risk of hunger every day, most of them children and the elderly. We are committed to helping to combat the problem of hunger with a wide range of programs to help provide hunger relief to those in need. We have made fighting hunger the central focus of our community service efforts.

Food Donations
Food donations play an important part in fighting hunger. That's why we're one of North America's largest donors of surplus perishable and non-perishable food to America's Second Harvest. Many of our 6,000 accounts donate surplus food by distributing it to their local Second Harvest affiliate. In addition, we've created a non-perishable food donation program, Caring Cans, an initiative that encourages donations of non-perishable food items at Sodexo locations, including many college campuses.

Sodexo Servathon
Every April Sodexo employees join forces to donate food and serve meals in their local communities. Projects vary from city to city across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and include canned food drives and donations of excess food, cleaning food banks, fundraisers, and free seminars on food safety for food banks and homeless shelters. During Servathon 2007, more than 33,000 Sodexo employees, clients and customers donated more than 100 tons of food and served 50,000 meals to hungry men, women and children.

Sodexo Foundation
Founded in 1999, the Sodexo Foundation is an independent charitable organization sponsoring and supporting initiatives that seek to tackle the root causes of hunger in the U.S., with a particular focus on helping children and their families. We also award grants to groups, such as the United Negro College Fund, the Hispanic College Fund and the Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF), that are addressing the causes of hunger through education, job training, and other proven programs. The Foundation supports the efforts of Sodexo employees to demonstrate their spirit of service in working for hunger-related initiatives in their local communities. Funding for the Foundation comes from Sodexo, with additional funding coming through employee payroll deductions and contributions. Additionally, we receive many generous donations from our vendor partners. The company pays all administrative costs of the Foundation to ensure that 100 percent of the money raised goes directly to those in need.
