Sodexo-operated Mess Hall at 29 Palms Wins Top USMC Honors

GAITHERSBURG, Md., May 26, 2011— Sodexo-operated Mess Hall 1660 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms in Calif. earned the highest honor for a foodservice operation in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) recently when the operation was named the winner of the 2011 W.P.T. Hill Award for Best Full Foodservice Contracted Garrison Mess Hall. 

"This recognition from the Marine Corps is deeply meaningful for our entire team," said Brett Ladd, vice president of operations, Government client segment, Sodexo. "This Mess Hall maintains strong community relations at 29 Palms where we feel like a part of the family."

The 2011 award was presented to the 1660 Mess Hall team of Area Operations Manager June Richardson, General Manager David Hasty, NANA Services, and the U.S. Marines from 29 Palms Base Food Service at the Joint Services Breakfast during the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago last weekend.

The W.P.T. Hill Memorial Award, established in 1985, is an annual Marine Corps-wide competition recognizing foodservice excellence at USMC installations around the globe.
