Sodexo Mexico Earns Social Responsibility Award for Sixth Consecutive Year

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, October, 14 2010 – For the sixth consecutive year, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía (CEMEFI) awards Sodexo México with the prestigious Empresa Socialmente Responsable (ESR) Distinctive certification. As the only quality of daily life solutions company in Mexico to receive the corporate social responsibility award, Sodexo earned its distinction by successfully competing in four areas: corporate quality of life; corporate ethics; community links and environmental responsibility.

“At Sodexo México we are committed to respecting our employees, the environment and all of our stakeholders,” said Humberto A. Patorniti, president of Sodexo México. “The ESR award is especially gratifying because it offers independent confirmation that we are advancing along the right track in each of these areas.”

Sodexo’s corporate social responsibility programs in México include community outreach programs, environmental protection practices and employee engagement programs. Its STOP Hunger initiative, part of a global effort, embraces the fight to end hunger and its root causes, especially among children. Sodexo México donates to Local Food Banks that help poor communities, orphanages and elder homes, and also provides education about healthy eating in select communities.

A strong emphasis is placed on recycling programs as part of the company’s commitment to protecting the environment. Sodexo México has permanent programs in place to recycle paper, cardboard and computer printer toner. To ensure that the programs work as designed, Sodexo frequently engages its employees on the importance of utilizing the resources that have been put in place for their use.
