June 26, 2009
Company is lauded for its inclusive workforce from entry level positions to top management roles
GAITHERSBURG, Md., June 26, 2009 – Sodexo, a world leader in foodservice and facilities management is listed on Black Enterprise magazine’s annual list of the 40 Best Companies for Diversity for the second consecutive year. The well-regarded list, honoring businesses with outstanding records of inclusion and cultural awareness, is especially significant during a time when many companies are rethinking their staffing models as they deal with the troubled economy.
In selecting their “Top 40”, Black Enterprise surveyed CEOs and diversity executives from the top 1,000 publicly traded companies as well at 50 leading global companies with a strong presence in the United States. The rankings were based on their responses regarding minority participation in four categories; board of directors, employee base, senior management, and supplier diversity. Sodexo scored high for its substantial percentage of minority employees across the spectrum of job roles ranging from front line workers to the corporate board. The company’s Future Leaders Internship Program was also noted as an area of opportunity.
“We are proud of to be honored for our commitment to diversity, which is a cornerstone of our company’s culture” said Senior Vice President and Global chief Diversity Officer Rohini Anand. “Being acknowledged for a second consecutive year proves the success of our efforts in embracing diversity as a tool to recruit top talent. This takes on increased importance by giving us a competitive advantage during tough economic times.”
