School Services President Lorna Donatone to provide unique perspective and expertise to nation's pre-eminent culinary educational organization.

Sodexo Executive Elected as Board of Trustees Member for The Culinary Institute of America

Gaithersburg, Md., October 31, 2008 – Sodexo School Services Division President Lorna C. Donatone was elected to The Culinary Institute of America (The CIA) Board of Trustees at the organization's October 25 annual meeting.  Donatone is one of five women on the Board, and is one of only two Board members representing a foodservice and facilities management company.
 
Sodexo, a world leader in foodservice and facilities management, has a strong commitment to education, mentorship and providing opportunities for development to students. The company currently employs more than 200 graduates from The CIA and hires more than 500 chefs yearly. 
  
Donatone heads a division that provides 2.5 million nutritionally balanced meals each day in 470 public schools across the United States and is part of Sodexo's education market that also serves more than 850 college campuses. She brings an extensive business and foodservice background to the 25-person board of trustees at The CIA, the world’s premier culinary college. The CIA offers bachelor’s and associates degrees as well as certificate programs in culinary arts or baking and pastry arts at three U.S. campuses.
 
Donatone has been actively involved with The CIA since 2007. Over the past year she has been a member of the Society of Fellows, has worked on fundraising activities as a member of The CIA’s Advancement Committee and has served on the Leadership Council since May 2008.

"It is a privilege to serve with the members of the Board of Trustees to contribute to our strategic goals and overall, to help the college continue its history of excellence in education. I strongly believe, as corporate and education leaders, we have an important role to play in the future of our profession as we allow students to develop skills and acquire knowledge."
 
In addition to her service to The CIA, Donatone currently serves as treasurer of the board of directors of the Women’s Foodservice Forum and as a member of the National Restaurant Association Board of Directors, she is also serving as the convention chair for the 2009 NRA Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show ® and International Wine, Spirits & Beer Event. Donatone is also currently a member of the advisory board of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, College of Hotel Administration.
