Sodexo Education Market Wins Award for Virtual Training Program

GAITHERSBURG, Md., February 25, 2010 - Sodexo, Inc., world leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions, and its Education Market received a 2009 Virtual Event Excellence Award from ON24, Inc. for its first-ever virtual summer training, a program that brought together more than 4,500 Sodexo employees from across the country to share operational best practices in a variety of areas including health, wellness and the overall experience of the students they serve.

ON24, the global leader in webcasting and virtual event solutions, created the Virtual Event Excellence Award to recognize organizations that push the boundaries of virtual communication and define best practices for the industry. Sodexo and four additional companies received awards.

Through its virtual summer training program, Sodexo’s Education Market provided 20 hours of training to each participating employee in June and July 2009. The comprehensive training program used a branded virtual meeting space to bring managers together for a variety of activities.

The program included video presentations from market leadership, interactive chats, downloadable resources, all designed to improve Sodexo’s operations at Campus Services and School Services locations across the country. A highlight of the training program was the interactive chat sessions that allowed employees to interact with leadership team members while also sharing their own success stories with employees from other regions.

Due to the success of the virtual summer training program, Sodexo’s Education Market once again used the tool for a two-week market-wide meeting in January 2010.
