Sodexo Earns SNCR Excellence Award for Innovative Use of Social Media

Recognized for use of Twitter to identify and recruit top talent
GAITHERSBURG, Md., December 2, 2009 – Sodexo, Inc. recently received an Excellence in New Communications Award from the Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) in the category of microblogging for its innovative use of social media, specifically Twitter, in its recruiting efforts.
The SNCR Excellence in New Communications Awards honor individuals, corporations, governmental and nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, media outlets, and individuals who are innovating in the use of new media and communication tools and methodologies. SNCR also awarded Sodexo a Commendation of Excellence for External Communication and Communities.

Use of these social media channels increased traffic to the Careers page on Sodexo’s website from an average of 52,000 unique visitors per month in February 2008 to 181,000 unique visitors per month in October 2009, and helped the company reduce its annual recruitment advertising expenses by $300,000 a year.
