Sodexo COO and Education Market President Wins Award for Mentoring Women

GAITHERSBURG, Md., September 16, 2010 – Sodexo COO and Education Market President Lorna Donatone was recognized with a national award this week for her role in mentoring women who are aspiring leaders.

Donatone won an Ascendancy Award from w2wlink.com, a professional online community for women, in the Entrepreneurial category. The awards were established in 2009 to recognize, reward and inspire women to maximize their potential in their careers. Candidates were nominated from eight cities and other locales across the country for achievements in corporate, entrepreneurial and career transition settings. Award categories included: Corporate, Entrepreneurial and Career Transition.

"Encouraging women to excel reflects my personal and professional commitment," said Donatone. "I'm honored to be recognized for something that is a passion of mine." She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Women's Foodservice Forum, an organization that supports the w2wlink.com mission to help women get to where they're going faster.

Donatone is an industry leader and demonstrates her commitment through her community involvement. She serves on the National Restaurant Association Board of Directors and as Chair of the Food and Healthy Living Imperative Committee. Donatone was elected as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Culinary Institute of America in 2008. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Entertainment Cruises since 2006. Donatone was honored by Girls, Inc. in 2009 for her work in mentoring and empowering young women.

Donatone serves as a director on the Board of the Sodexo Foundation. She has worked to develop Sodexo's Employee Network Groups, demonstrating her commitment to diversity, inclusion, mentorship and training managers and employees.  Donatone currently serves as National Executive Sponsor for Sodexo's African American network group.
