June 29, 2010
Company is recognized for using workforce diversity to sharpen its competitiveness
GAITHERSBURG, Md., June 29, 2010 – Sodexo, the world leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions, today was announced as one of Black Enterprise magazine's 40 Best Companies for Diversity. This is the third consecutive year Sodexo has been selected for the list in recognition of its commitment to diversity, regardless of the economic climate.
Sodexo was recognized by Black Enterprise for the diversity of its employee base, senior management and board of directors. According to the magazine, "Companies like those on our list that invest in the development and expansion of such human capital will emerge as today's winners and tomorrow’s leaders."
Sodexo has 120,000 employees in the United States, and serves more than ten million customers daily in corporations, health care, long term care and retirement centers, schools, college campuses, government, and remote sites.
"At Sodexo, building a diverse and inclusive workforce is a key competitive advantage. Our success depends on the quality of the talent we bring to our company. We know that the more diverse our workforce, the greater the potential for innovation that will lead to continued business growth," said Senior Vice President and Global Chief Diversity Officer Rohini Anand.
To compile its list, the magazine evaluated responses from surveys sent to the top 1,000 publicly traded companies, as well as 100 leading global companies with a strong presence in the United States. The rankings were based on these companies' responses regarding minority participation in four areas: board of directors; total workforce; senior management; and supplier diversity.
Black Enterprise magazine will feature its 40 Best Companies for Diversity in the July 2010 issue and online at www.blackenterprise.com.
