Retail Brand Group Launches Student-Tested-and-Approved Burger Concept on Campus this Fall

ALLENTOWN, Pa., July 30, 2009 — The Retail Brand Group, Sodexo’s retail restaurant development team, announces new burger concept designed with today’s student in mind. The Original Burger Company will debut on college campuses this fall starting with 3 to 5 campuses nationwide and expanding throughout the school year. 

The latest brand from the Retail Brand Group portfolio of award-winning restaurant brands will offer customers quality burgers, fries and chicken sandwiches, built-to-order in front of the customer, at a mid-level price. While this quick-service dining option will debut on campus, the concept is expected to be relevant in multiple non-traditional segments including corporate campuses and hospitals.

“The Original Burger Company will launch in Sodexo’s campus operations first; we notice many trends begin in the campus market because today's college student demands it all--quality, speed of service and price,” said Erica Milios, director of brand development for Sodexo’s Retail Brand Group. “Our tag line is ‘where every burger is an original’ because it is all about getting exactly what you want, and students will be the first to tell you this.”

The Original Burger Company, epitomizes the designed for students, by students approach. Sodexo’s Student Board of Directors (SBOD), a group put together to allow students to voice their opinions about campus dining options, was instrumental in the research conducted for the concept and voted to pick the new concept's name.
