National Restaurant Association Honors Sodexo, Inc. with Faces of Diversity Award

The Faces of Diversity awards celebrate diversity in the restaurant and foodservice industry and among the industry's nearly 13 million employees
Washington, D.C., April 14, 2010 - The National Restaurant Association honored Sodexo, Inc. with its Faces of Diversity Award today for achievements in and contributions to the restaurant industry. . Sodexo, headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md., received the award at a ceremony at the Association’s 2010 Public Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.

Sodexo’s diversity and inclusion culture unites people, strengthens the organization and ensures superior business performance. Sodexo helps managers build diversity competency through a training program. A mandatory Spirit of Diversity course equips managers to lead diverse teams. Training for frontline staff helps them interact with one another and meet customers’ needs.
Sodexo’s diversity efforts are led by Rohini Anand, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Diversity Officer, who reports directly to the CEO. The company tracks both quantitative and qualitative measures of training compliance, succession planning and other efforts to ensure that it is sourcing, developing and retaining a diverse and highly skilled workforce. Sodexo evaluates its progress in an annual diversity and inclusion report.

The Inspiration Award honors restaurant companies that have exhibited leadership and vision as an advocate of diversity and inclusion.
The Association recognized three American Dream Award recipients and one Inspiration Award recipient – Sodexo, Inc. – at today’s award ceremony.
The winners of the 2010 Faces of Diversity American Dream Award are Matilda and Joseph Novak of Novak's Hungarian Restaurant in Albany, Ore.; Widjiono "Yono" Purnomo of Yono's in Albany, N.Y.; and Taki Sawi of Santorini Greek Kitchen in Indianapolis, Ind.
