Girls Inc. Honors Sodexo President For Empowering Big Dreams
May 07, 2009
Sodexo School Services President Lorna Donatone was honored by Girls Inc. at the nonprofit organization’s annual Washington D.C. Celebration Luncheon this week.
GAITHERSBURG, Md., May 7, 2009 –
"I think it's so important that girls realize the world has no boundaries for them and they have any number of choices in who they are as people and how they want to contribute to the world,” said Donatone. “I encourage girls and women to be the best they can be – however they define that – so they can excel and in turn help others to do the same.”
Donatone has been a real driving force with programs, organizations and initiatives focused on women in the workplace at Sodexo. She helped establish the company’s employee network group for women and mentors women at Sodexo and in the community. Donatone is also an active member of the Women’s Foodservice Forum and serves on the organization’s board and executive committee as the Treasurer.
“Lorna knows that a healthy sense of self is key to success. Her work as president of Sodexo's School Services demonstrates her commitment to providing quality solutions to the food and nutrition issues facing children and their families,” said Girls Inc. President & CEO, Joyce M. Roché. “Additionally, her efforts to mentor and promote women both within her company and the food service industry have produced valuable opportunities for women and girls to create their own success.”
